Hollywood Film Producer to Bring a Taste of Celebrity to
the Bite of Seattle

Monday, July 15, 2019 — Seattle, WA — The Bite of Seattle® has seen it all, since the first Bite took place at Green Lake Park in 1982. From local start-up snack companies that went on to achieve national success, to restaurant owners taking over the dining scene, and now, Bite of Seattle® veteran, Edward ‘Eddie’ Kahl, owner of Dancing Zorba, has taken new strides, from on-ground vendor, to Hollywood Producer.

Edward was born in Portland, OR, to Syrian immigrants Shawki and Nuhad Kahl, and is the oldest of three boys. He got his start in the festival scene at the Bite of Seattle® in July of 2000, as an on-ground vendor with his brothers Nidal and Danny, selling the Greek pastry Loukoumades.

With consistent success at the Bite, the small stand became Dancing Zorba, and expanded into a full restaurant booth serving various menu items including gyros, salads, and halibut fish tacos, which have won ‘Best of the Bite’ awards, as determined by influential Seattle-area food judges. This popularity among food judges, and returning Bite guests, has seen Dancing Zorba, and Edward, become part of the Bite of Seattle® scenery.

In addition to the food and festivals scene, Edward’s other passion is film making, and recently, was successful in securing a spot on set at Warner Bros studios in Burbank, CA, with his team, to shoot the indie film, “The Latin From Manhattan”.

The “Latin from Manhattan” is a biopic set against the backdrop of mob-controlled Times Square, and the transformation of New York city during the tumultuous ‘70’s and ‘80’s. The film is directed by Thomas Mignone, who also wrote the script, with Edward and his brother Nidal Kahl as the Executive Producers.

The cast of “The Latin from Manhattan” includes Jesse Metcalfe, known for his portrayal of John Rowland on Desperate Housewives, Esai Morales who played, Lt. Tony Rodriguez on NYPD Blue, Drea De Matteo who appeared in Sons of Anarchy, and the Sopranos, and, Taryn Manning, who currently portrays Tiffany "Pennsatucky" Doggett in Orange Is the New Black.

“Hollywood runs in a fast-past, high octane environment along with the responsibilities and pressures of working in any other type of business. From a personal perspective, having the opportunity to meet and work with incredible talent and brilliant filmmakers I greatly admire, has created many surreal moments that I'll never forget,” said Kahl.

Despite the Hollywood lights and big dreams, and the thrill of riding on the cusp of grand success, Edward remains a humble gentleman, and hands-on with his business, Dancing Zorba, and, to the people around him, who he calls his work family. The Bite of Seattle® each year, is, in essence a homecoming, as Edward enjoys talking with customers, and working alongside his staff of UW and WSU students and alumni, of which many have worked for Edward since high school, and still, to this day take a break from their professional careers to work at the ‘family reunion’ aka the Bite of Seattle®.

Edward returns to the Bite of Seattle®, this weekend, and, with “The Latin From Manhattan” not scheduled to shoot, the cast and crew of the film could be up for a possible visit to Seattle.
