James Beard Award-Winning Chef Tom Douglas to Host Grand Opening Ceremony of The Alley, at the Bite of Seattle®

Renowned James Beard award-winning chef, restaurant owner, and Food Lifeline Ambassador, Tom Douglas will officially open The Alley, at the Albert Lee Appliance Bite of Seattle® on Friday, July 19th at 11:00 a.m.

The ceremony will commence with opening remarks, and the introduction of Tom Douglas, to share his connection with The Alley, and Food Lifeline.

Linda Nageotte, President and CEO of Food Lifeline, will also attend the opening ceremony, and join Tom Douglas and Jody May to cut the pasta ribbon, created onsite by Linda Miller Nicholson, ‘pasta ninja’ and owner of Salty Seattle.

As additional support for Food Lifeline, the Bite of Seattle® will donate $5 to Food Lifeline, on behalf of the first one hundred people through The Alley, on Friday, July 19th. This total donated amount of $500 to Food Lifeline can provide 2,000 meals for those in need.

The Alley is the Bite’s signature fundraiser for Food Lifeline, with proceeds benefiting the charity, to held end hunger in Western Washington. The Alley is a six course ‘multi-bite’ dining experience that features six Seattle-area restaurants, each day of the Bite, which runs Friday through Sunday, July 19th-21st, 2019, at Seattle Center, in Seattle Washington.

The Alley ticket includes one plate with a ‘large bite’ from each of the six different restaurants each day for just $20, which includes one bottled water. The Alley will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day, while supplies last. Thank you to The Alley media sponsor 94.1 The Sound.

Proceeds at The Alley will benefit Food Lifeline, a hunger relief organization that currently provides 90,000 meals every day to those in need in Western Washington. Proceeds benefit Food Lifeline, the state’s largest hunger relief organization, which rescues surplus food from going to waste and redirects it to more than 300 food banks, shelters, and meal programs. With support from people like you, Food Lifeline is able to provide the equivalent of 97,000 meals every single day to people struggling with hunger across Western Washington. For every $1 donated, Food Lifeline can provide 4 meals for those in need.

Visitors also have the option to make any monetary contribution to the organization or donate $100.00 and receive $30.00 in Bite Bucks that can be used at any food vendor in the festival.

Along with the Grand Opening Ceremony of The Alley Six Course ‘Multi-Bite’ Experience, the Bite hosts over 200 food and specialty vendors, 70 live acts on 3 stages, the NEW Gladiator of the Grill BBQ competition, FREE Movie Night featuring Wayne’s World, MUNCHIES @ The Mural, the Family FunZone, The Bite Cooks!, and more.

Tom Douglas, Tom Douglas Restaurants
Tom Douglas served as host of The Alley for many years, and is currently serving his second term as a Board Member for Food Lifeline.  The Seattle-based chef, has been cooking up Pacific Northwest cuisine since 1984, opening his own restaurant, Dahlia Lounge, in 1989. For the last 30 years, he’s made a name for himself alongside business partner and wife Jackie Cross and business partner (since 2006) Eric Tanaka by opening 13 full-service restaurants; an event space, Palace Ballroom; a cooking school, Hot Stove Society; and a product line including rubs, sauces, mustards, and knives.

The James Beard Outstanding Restaurateur, self-described as “middle-aged, tall, and round,” can be found at any of his restaurants on a given day putting in the work to create a successful restaurant group. Linda Miller Nicholson is an internationally-recognized pasta powerhouse, whose work has been featured on The Today Show, Saveur, Good Housekeeping, Buzzfeed, Elle, the BBC, and Business Insider, to name a few. She has made pasta art for Katy Perry, Camila and Matthew McConaughey, Snooki, and the cast of The Chew, and with Harry Connick Jr. She’s been the subject of several documentaries, has a popular cookbook called Pasta, Pretty Please, and regularly appears on national television, in addition to hosting an online pasta show on The Food Network. - Linda Miller Nicholson
