A delicious look back at Bourbon & Bacon Fest 2017
Being the foodies that we are at Bite of Seattle®, we are always excited to explore and support other Greater Seattle area food and drink events throughout the year. Our hope with the 'Bite Blog' is to showcase some of that to our Bite fans.
This weekend, we were hard at work tasting our way through the Bourbon & Bacon Fest, held at the Seattle Design Center. Distilleries from all over the US poured their best spirits while some favorite Seattle area restaurants (and beyond) dished out tasty pork inspired treats! Outside of the noms, we really loved that it benefited Treehouse, which works to give foster kids a better childhood and future.
Some of the amazing distilleries included Fremont Mischief, Woodinville Whiskey Company, and our personal fav (and the Bite's main spirits at our events) Heritage Distilling Co. out of Gig Harbor. The "out-of-state-ers" included Willie's Distillery from Montana, Eastside Distilling from Portland, High West Distillery from Utah and many more!
Let's face it though, we were really there for all the bacon goodness! Our first taste was from Green Lake Ale House and they served bacon wrapped Monterrey jack cheese glazed with a mesquite caramel.
Then it was Art Marble 21 (who has made several Bite Cooks! stage appearances) which served up mesquite bacon empanadas.
Next up, The Carlile Room dished up smoked pork belly, angostura mayo, red onion-cherry jam, pickled orange peel on Dahlia Bakery toast. It was to be paired with an Old Fashioned, which fit perfectly.
Bavarian Meats was serving up thick cuts of whiskey-infused bacon paired with a Mischief Bloody Mary from Freemont Mischief Distillery.
Then we tried a bacon-infused chocolate milkshake! You heard correctly. Cali Burger was serving up tasty samples of just that. It was more chocolatey than bacon-y, but for us that was a bonus of sweetness.
South Seattle College was represented with three different dishes on hand and we went for their sweet dish, a bourbon mousse with pecans, bacon crumbles and fig jam.
Other notable restaurants and companies were Pinxto (pictured to the right) , Uli's Famous Sausage, Longhorn Barbecue, Gizmo's Butcher Shop, and Pacific Grill Catering.
Finally, we finished it all off with a little sweet treat from Hollywood Baked Goods which served deconstructed chocolate cupcakes with bourbon-infused frosting, bacon crumbles and a bourbon-caramel glaze. Seriously, delish!
Now, we are hungry just thinking about it all again.
